Bi- Racial Love: Hair Portfolio

This Portfolio will show the progression of learning how to moisturize, condition, style, and maintain bi-racial Hair. As you can see, I was so lost in the beginning, didn’t know how to shape a natural Fro, could not corn roll to save my life. I had no idea what I was doing, so I pretty much stuck to pony tails and regular braids. Jazzing it up here and there will some Ginormous bows. I wasn’t moisturizing enough each day, or using the right products as her hair grew. You can see a huge difference in moisture, texture, and curl patterns between both of my daughters. There was an epic learning curve! But, as time went along, I watched YouTube videos, tutorials, articles, asked friends etc. And I have fallen in love with the hair journey between my girls and I.

I take huge pride in continually learning about my girls hair. As a mother to Bi-Racial daughters, it is an honor and responsibility to take in as much knowledge as you can for them. Going from my experience with Mexican/Native American Hair that could simply be washed and combed through, hardly using any products in my hair outside of the shower, to my arsenal of products for Black/Mexican hair was a leap equivalent to Mt Everest. I cant help but laugh at my struggle. I love every second of it. If you have any questions, tips, suggestions, please do not hesitate to comment. I will respond to you as soon as I can. Motherhood takes a village, well hair care for bi-racial children takes the whole damn world!

I will list below all of the products I use. I like to switch back and forth between brands to depending on the style I am looking and I switch up the shampoo/conditioners every other month. If any can be found on Amazon, I will provide a link as well, but honestly, purchase them wherever you like.

Majority of the time I use these products to for Wash days: Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus 13 oz. Curl & Shine Shampoo, 13 oz. Curl & Shine Conditioner, I typically purchase the combo pack since i love the curl enhancing smoothie as well. I have found these products at my local grocery store, but if you cannot, Click here for the Amazon link to the combo pack.

I like to alternate between these as well: Dove Nutritive Solutions Absolute Curls Shampoo & Conditioner 12 Fl. Oz. These I do have a difficult time finding at my local stores, so I do purchase online. Click here for the link.

I have used these products since I was a teenager and I can attest, your hair will grow thick, strong, and long!! I add the Mane and Tail conditioner in every other wash with regular washing routine. If you cannot find them locally, here is another link, click here.
